We are excited to share the fourth episode of Vital Voices Season 3, a podcast of the Josiah Macy Jr. Foundation.
This episode’s transcript is available here.
On today’s episode, I speak with Macy Faculty Scholar Sara Arter, PhD, RN, an Assistant Professor of Nursing at Miami University in Ohio. Dr. Arter is also a critical care nurse caring for pediatric and adult populations.
The focus of Dr. Arter’s work is both timely and personal. As one who has witnessed the devastating effects of the opioid epidemic–both on a broad level and more directly in her own community in Ohio–Dr. Arter has chosen to focus her Scholar’s project on caring for mothers with substance use disorder and their children. In addition to her scholarship, we discuss the personal factors that led Dr. Arter to pursue a career in nursing and the importance of focusing efforts in local, rural communities. She also shares her excitement for projects she co-created with her learners.
As always, we hope that you will share the podcast with your social media networks.
