Rapid Response Request for Applications

The Josiah Macy Jr. Foundation is pleased to announce a new Request for Applications (RFA) reaffirming our commitment to our priority areas. Our goal is to provide gap or bridge funding to members of the Josiah Macy Jr. Foundation grantee and Macy Faculty Scholars community whose continued work may be threatened due to reduced or rescinded funding. While we recognize that we are unable to fully replace the significant cuts from the NIH and other federal and state funders, our hope is to help sustain work we believe to be meaningful and impactful, while also protecting the investments we have made.

Eligibility

This is a limited opportunity only available to those who are invited to apply and have received a link to the application. In addition to receiving an invitation to apply, applicants must also meet the following criteria:

  • Have previously received funding from the Macy Foundation for work related to diversity, equity, and belonging AND (at least one of the following),
    • Have had recent or current grant funds canceled or reduced AND/OR
    • Have experienced a reduction or elimination of opportunities for future grant funding AND/OR
    • Have had institutional support or funding canceled or reduced

Funding & Timeline

  • The Macy Foundation will provide up to $50,000 for one-year projects to help sustain important initiatives in health professions education.
  • Applications will be accepted on a rolling basis beginning November 3, 2025, through September 21, 2026.
  • If favorably reviewed by the Macy staff, applications will move forward to the Josiah Macy Jr. Foundation Board of Directors for a final determination. Decisions will be made during the 2026 Board meetings (held in January, May, and October). Please expect a decision in no more than 4 months' time.
  • Applications received after September 21, 2026 will not be considered.
