Dear Macy Community,
Last week, numerous friends, family, and colleagues past and present had the opportunity to gather together and celebrate the life of Dr. Holly J. Humphrey, President of the Josiah Macy Jr. Foundation, who died on April 17 of this year. For those who were present or who had the opportunity to listen to the memorial service, it is safe to say that the thoughtful remarks delivered by Dr. Humphrey’s family and close friends served as a powerful reminder of her enduring legacy and of the significance of our work and yours in health professions education.
As the Foundation moves forward in the coming weeks and months, I want to convey to all those in our community – grant recipients, conferees, partners, Macy Faculty Scholars, and friends – that the work of the Foundation will continue and that our commitment to our mission and to the priority areas developed under Dr. Humphrey’s leadership remains strong. Over the next year, we will be announcing new opportunities and continuing the Foundation’s many initiatives in which so many of you participate. Please look for monthly emails from the Foundation, which remain the primary forum through which the staff will share important updates and announcements.
Many of you knew Dr. Humphrey well and are mourning her loss, as are we. As we navigate this period, I know that we can rely on the powerful lessons and the example of someone who served as an inspirational and principled leader and a dear friend to guide us.
We want to thank you for the many kind messages and offers of support that we have received over the last few weeks. We are grateful for the generosity of this community.
Sincerely,
Meredith B. Jenkins
