Publications Patients and Health Care Teams Forging Effective Partnerships

In the discussion paper, Patients and Health Care Teams Forging Effective Partnerships, released by the Institute of Medicine (IOM), the authors from the IOM Roundtable on Value & Science-Driven Health Care’s Best Practices Innovation Collaborative (BPIC) elaborate on how patients view their own roles within the health care network and explain how to forge stronger partnerships with patients. The authors, which include Stephen C. Schoenbaum, MD, MPH of the Macy Foundation, draw insights from their deep experiences, from interviews with patients and clinicians, and from their analysis of published literature. They also outline key tenets for integrating patients into health care teams and coordinating care together. Learn more about the IOM Roundtable on Value & Science-Driven Health Care’s BPIC.
