Cynthia Foronda

Cynthia Foronda is an Associate Professor of Clinical at the University of Miami School of Nursing and Health Studies. Dr. Foronda is a pediatric nurse who specializes in simulation, technology, cultural diversity, and vulnerable populations. An expert in evaluating educational interventions, she is focused on fostering breakthroughs in education through the use of technology and diverse teaching methods. Her work in simulation has resulted in several international awards, and she was voted President-Elect of the International Nursing Association for Clinical Simulation and Learning.

As a Macy Faculty Scholar, Dr. Foronda will apply simulation and telehealth technology to create longitudinal experiences that bridge health care education to patient and family outcomes. Focusing on empowering family caregivers of children with asthma, her project evaluates the impact of a simulation and telehealth intervention on student learning, the experience of family caregiving, child health outcomes, and costs.

Cindy L. Munro, RN, ANP-BC, PhD, FAAN, FAANP, FAAAS, Dean and Professor at the University of Miami School of Nursing and Health Studies, serves as Dr. Foronda’s mentor.
