New Report: Improving Environments for Learning in the Health Professions

New York, NY

Health professionals want their learning and work to be meaningful, stimulating, empowering, collaborative, and respectful. Yet too many experience the opposite: high levels of depression and burnout as well as distress and marginalization and/or exclusion.

Today, the Josiah Macy Jr. Foundation issued a set of recommendations to guide leaders from health professions education and health care delivery organizations on how to design and create optimal learning and work environments for students, educators, and practitioners—environments that ultimately contribute to better patient outcomes.

The recommendations stem from a April 2018 Macy Conference that brought together 44 leaders in health professions education and health care delivery as well as health professions students, representatives of accrediting bodies, and patient advocates.

On July 18, we will be holding a web conference from 1:00-2:00 pm ET to discuss these new recommendations for improving environments for learning in the health professions.
