Physicians and Health Care Teams in the US: a policy analysis based on a 45 year history

Theme: Interprofessional Education and Teamwork

Institution: Society for the Preservation of Physician Assistant History

Grant Type: President’s Grant

Award Amount: $30,000

Grant Awarded: January 2012

Principal Investigator: Alfred M. Sadler, Jr., MD, FACP; Thomas E. Piemme, MD, FAAFP

The grant supports the documentation of the extraordinary success of properly-trained non-physicians that were capable of providing first-rate care as part of a physician directed health care team beginning with the 1970’s. The product will inform debate about how to provide front line health care for all Americans using health care teams.
